The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is investigating the AESO after a complaint alleging discrimination against a US-based energy company.
Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Energy alleges that the Alberta Electric System Operator’s “discriminatory” behaviour will cost Alberta consumers $2.8-billion annually. The complaint (filed around February of 2024 with the Alberta Utilities Commission) is now resulting in an investigation from the AER.
