Leaked documents show students would have fees, membership paid

The Western Standard based it’s reporting mainly on tweets from Former Alberta deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk (see below).  According to (apparently anonymously forwarded) emails, students from the Edmonton Islamic Academy and Al Mustafa Academy are to have the $399 attendance fee paid for them.  Requirements are to be at least 14 (the minimum UCP voting age), and to reply by Oct 9th (the day before voting sign-up cut-off).  Smith is advertised to be meeting exclusively with the bused students prior to the conference.

The letters acknowledges Smith’s recent private-school funding initiatives, of which the schools would benefit.  According to Western Standard reporting, the funding is coming from the academic communities themselves.

A Twitter user later questioned

Looking at the charity disclosures Al Mustafa and Edmonton Islamic are 100% and 66% taxpayer funded respectively. Are public dollars buying UCP memberships/admission?

Take Back Alberta organization founder David Parker has fallen out significantly with Smith since March of 2023 when she attended his wedding.  About the situation, he tweeted:
